CASH Oregon is seeking volunteers who wish to train and serve as tax return preparers, greeters and Interpreters (many languages). No experience is necessary. FREE training is provided. For more information or to apply, go to:

  • Learn with us.  Our no-cost training will teach you the many aspects of tax return preparation.
  • Become an IRS-certified volunteer tax preparer. 
  • Support the economy,  Last year our program brought over $20 million in federal refunds back into the pockets of hard working Oregonians and cash registers of local businesses. 
Why should get involved: 

• Hardworking Oregonians spend hundreds of dollars they cannot afford on tax preparation. You can offer a free alternative.
• Low-income tax credits, including the Earned Income Tax Credit, designed to support working families, create the most powerful anti-poverty program in the nation.
• Taxpayers struggle with the increasing complexity of our tax system. This can be especially difficult for the elderly, workers with disabilities, English language learners and those without access to the internet.

Join us to assist these vulnerable communities.

Requirements:

• A commitment of a minimum of 4 hours per week during tax season - February 1 to April 15, 2020. Train from November to January, pass an online IRS test. 
• For tax preparers, an average of 40 hours of training during November through January.
• A compassionate, friendly and reliable person who is interested in making a difference in their community

Free training -  Training goes from November to January.  Then volunteers will need to pass an IRS online test. No experience needed - Flexible hours at 50 tax sites  in the Tri-county area.
We will provide the tools and resources so you can pass an IRS online certification test.

Our volunteers come from all walks of life: retirees, full and part-time employees, CPAs, teachers, retired IRS agents, etc.

CASH Oregon and AARP Tax-Aide work in partnership with the IRS VITA/TCE programs.
